About the Author
Mary Duke Guldan is a woodcarving instructor and longtime columnist for the National Wood Carvers Association. She studied sculpture and woodcarving at the City of London Crafts and Guilds school. She has won many national awards for her carvings, and her commissions can be found across the country and around the world. She lives in Memphis, Tennessee.

Review: This just fits the bill as I'm interested in realistic carving. Shows a lot of fur patterns which can be a tricky item to carve. I don't recommend to beginners but if you have a knack for carving detail this would help you and not be too hard for a talented beginner.

Review: This is a nice workbook for beginners. I did not like all the writing about how to do things. There are not many pictures to show how carvings are done. I was disappointed. The typing tutorials are long, but do tell the steps clearly. Then hand written tutorials were hard to read. Had is seen this and looked thru it on the shelf, I would not have bought it.
